By Troop 228 Historian – Robert Moore: The troop’s task was to run the fire starting station at the 2017 Webelos Klondike. This event was located at Franklin Delano Roosevelt State Park. The task was to burn through a rope by starting a fire. They received five points if they burned through the rope using their own kindling, flint and steel. They received four points if they used three matches supplied by the troop. They received three points using a troop-provided lighter. They received two points for just starting a fire. And finally one point for participation. Lunch was hot dogs and sausages with mustard and hot chocolate. In conclusion, this is my summary of the 2017 Webelos Klondike Fire Starting Station. Congratulations to Somers Pack 1 for their coming first in the Klondike.
