2017 Cabin Campout

By Troop 228 Historian – Robert Moore: Arrival and setup went smoothly in the cabin. In the morning we had French toast and then performed three service projects for the Camp Ranger including loading material into the dump truck, splitting wood in the basement of the cabin latrine and clearing out the existing storage area at Sperling Center, to prepare for upcoming renovations to the camp trading post.  Lunch was hot dogs with beans and potato salad.  That afternoon the troop hiked to campsite #40 to setup stations for the Webelo Klondike practice.  Stations included fire starting, map and compass, matching game and first aid. Then back to the cabin for a delicious dinner of pasta and meatballs.  At the campfire we retired 15 flags and then watched a movie called Marvel’s Dr. Strange and then lights out.  Breakfast was eggs and bacon, cabin cleanup and departure.  Overall, the camp out was fun and helped to prepare the Webelos for their event.
