The troop will be running two separate campouts next weekend at Durland Scout Reservation, a Camporee that is open to all Scouts and a Philmont Trek prep hike for the Philmont crew only.

First the Camporee:

• Parents drop Scouts off at Durland Scout reservation on Friday, October 26h between the hours of 5:30 – 8:30 pm (Check-in/register with Jim Daley)
• Dad’s who have completed the Youth Protection Training are welcome to participate
• Eat dinner before arriving on Friday
• Meals included are Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner
• Tent camping, Scouts are responsible to bring their own tents
• Mess kits – Scouts and Dad’s are responsible for bringing mess kits
• Cost is $25 pp (this includes the $10 Camporee fee and $15 for food) – Payment is due at tomorrow’s troop meeting

• Sunday morning activites end at 9:30, if you have sports and need to get out sooner this can be accommodated

Philmont Campout and Hike:

• For Philmont Trekkers only
• Meet at Durland entrance at 7:15 am Saturday, October 27th (if you need to carpool, check with a friend who might be going)
• Hike will be 8+ miles with a fully loaded pack
• 3+ liters of water, suggest bladder and nalgenes
• Cost is $15 pp (includes Campsite fee and food)
• lunch and dinner will be trail/backpacking style (food is included in the cost)
• Sunday morning, rise early and take a short hike before departing Durland to simulate Philmont multi-day hiking
• Depart by 9:00 am

Weather forecast calls for cool weather, Scouts should be dressed appropriately and ready for winter-like conditions at night. Hiking boots are a must, anyone wearing sneakers will be miserable and cold and at risk for injury.
